A BIT MORE...

This is a graceful small tree with a mounding habit and feathery wine-colored leaves.  As the name might indicate, the fall color is a spectacular shade of red.  Looks best in light or dappled shade, too much direct sun may cause it to take on a green cast, and possibly crisp the tips of the leaves by the end of summer.  Moderate water helps this tree looks its best.  ‘Crimson Queen’ is quite lovely is left to a natural shape, but also takes quite nicely to bonsai work.  The roots aren’t invasive or prone to lifting stones or concrete, so this tree makes an excellent accent near a patio, or better yet near a water feature in the garden!
