A BIT MORE...

A handsome deciduous tree or shrub native to the lower slopes and canyons of the San Joaquin Valley and coast ranges of northern and southern California that is most loved for its dramatic profusion of cream to pale pink colored fragrant 6-10 inch long flower stalks that appear in mid-spring. Medium green leaves become 8-10 inches across and are palmately divided. Brown seed pods appear in the late summer and leaves may or may not survive the summer months. Ample water will ensure that leaves do not drop until the fall. It is even attractive defoliated with silver branches creating a naturally interesting silhouette. A mature plant will exceed 10-20 feet in height with a 30 foot spread. All parts of this plant are poisonous.
