Larger than Agapanthus ‘Peter Pan’ but smaller than Agapanthus africanus, this hybrid will reach 24” in maturity. Its purple to blue blossoms are borne in spherical clusters on stems which appear above the foliage in the spring and summer months. Its strap-like leaves are considerably wider than those on ‘Peter Pan’ plants but have the same attractive deep green color. The tidy mound formed by the leaves emanating from the center makes it a perfect plant for borders and around pools. An evergreen, it craves sun to part shade and will not exceed 24” in height with a similar spread. Hardy to 10°F, it is native to South Africa. Agapanthus africanus resists drought but does best with regular water and well-drained soil. It tolerates seacoast conditions well and is an excellent container plant. Bees, butterflies, and birds find the flowers irresistible.
