A BIT MORE...

European White Birch are among our most popular deciduous trees. Distinguished by its white peeling bark and glossy small triangular leaves, these deciduous beauties grow vertically to 40’ with a 20’ spread. The smaller branches tend to angle earthward and in fall, the leaves turn a beautiful golden yellow. The white bark is stunning and most visible when the tree is defoliated. On lawns, as a specimen tree or planted in small groupings, these distinctive multi-trunked trees require regular water and full sun. The fruits are small insignificant cones that lend additional interest in the winter months. Naturally graceful and reminiscent of European forests, it lends an aura of permanence and storybook charm to the landscape. Often associated with Northern or high elevation climates, it has been proven adaptable to warmer conditions as well. Sunset Western Garden Book suggests zones 1-12 and 14-24. Boething Treeland Farms grows these in 5 and 15 gallons as well as in 24”, 36” and 48” boxes.
