Bignonia cherere has been through a few different reclassifications over the last several years, as the genome was sequenced, and the horticultural community learned more about exactly how it is related to other plants.  You may see this lovely vine also called Distictus buccinatoria or perhaps even Amphilophium buccinatorium.  No matter what name you call it, this evergreen vine is sure to impress with its quick growth and spectacular show of orange-throated red flowers.  Red Trumpet Vine is an impressive climber, reaching 30 feet and sometimes even more!  Do watch this one for unintentional spreading; it will put down roots wherever the canes touch moderately moist soil.  Bignonia cherere is perfect for transforming a length of unsightly chain link fence into a lush tropical themed oasis for hungry hummingbirds.
