A BIT MORE...

Buxus sempervirens ‘Suffruticosa’ is an attractive choice for a low formal hedge.  B. sempervirens may take a little more attention than other Buxus, but the graceful leaf shape and vibrant emerald color make up for the negligible extra effort.  ‘Suffruticosa’ is a dwarf variety, and as such, it will rarely ever get taller than 3 feet tall and equally wide.  ‘Suffruticosa’ is attractive as either a free form little green puffball in the landscape, or structurally shaped into whatever the gardener needs.  Be certain to prune after the danger of last frost is passed, as new growth is tender.  When planting, select sites that are sheltered from burning winter winds and scorching afternoon sun.  Plant Buxus sempervirens ‘Suffruticosa’ where a lush green accent or border is needed, and you’re unlikely to be disappointed.
