A BIT MORE...

Caesalpinia gilliesii, also called Yellow Bird of Paradise (though, it is of no relation to the Strelitzia family) is an exotic looking plant that serves equally well as a tall bush, or shrubby tree.  Caesalpinia is generally too thin to make a proper privacy screen, but the feathery leaves do a nice job of breaking up and softening lines.  Some report that this plant is too hardy and successful for its own good, and needs to be watched for invasiveness.  Keep an eye on where the seeds fall, and pluck out the sprouts if you don’t want a thicket.  Plant Caesalpinia gilliesii where you want a feathery textured hummingbird magnet, as they’re drawn to the vivid red stamen and yellow petals of the blossoms.
