A Bit More

This evergreen shrub is a California native, and loves some room to grow. The form of Ceanothus ‘Ray Hartman’ is somewhat upright, and lends itself to being trained up as a tree, or it makes a stunning large and natural form hedge if left to its own devices. A profuse show of medium blue flowers in fluffy clusters appear in late spring, and will attract butterflies and hummingbirds alike. Grow where it will get full sun. Sandy soil is best, as Ceanothus needs good drainage. Once established, it is remarkably drought tolerant but this Ceanothus does appreciate a little bit of summer irrigation.
