Known for it’s vibrant purple bracts that wave atop spires of dark purple flowers, Lavandula stoechas ‘Otto Quast’ is a garden stalwart that blooms almost year-round. Growing into mounds 2-3’ tall and wide, this lavender has fragrant, grey-green foliage. While the species of this plant is native to the Mediterranean, this selection was found in Northern California in the 1980’s and is one of our most requested lavenders for its showy color and its ability to thrive in low-water landscapes. Deer resistant, drought and seaside tolerant, ‘Otto Quast’ is a favorite of pollinators and sachet-makers. Plant in full sun to part-shade, and provide occasional water once established. Use en masse or as fill plants in a wide variety of landscapes.
