A Bit More

Nearly indestructible, this ground cover shrub thrives in full sun with little or no water, in poor soil or rich, with or without fertilizer, from seaside to desert. Native to Australia, it grows quickly but will not exceed 2 feet in height or 12 feet in width, mounding happily on the ground with its slim but dense gray-green leaves shimmering in the sun. Its yellow puff ball flowers are a springtime staple. Once established, Acacia redolens ‘Low Boy’ will tolerate frost but new transplants should be protected from temperatures below 20°F. Sunset assigns them to zones 8, 9, and 14-24.
