A Bit More

A deciduous tree native to the low, wet areas of the eastern United States and Canada, this cultivar is distinguished by its very narrow (15-20 feet wide) habit. Ultimately, a typical specimen will be 50 to 60 feet tall. It is considered a fast grower and has a columnar form. Large green star-shaped leaves are 3-lobed and yellow, orange, or red in the fall. It bears showy red samaras in the spring and the fruit attracts squirrels and other small animals. Given full sun, it will develop a dense shady crown whereas part sun will render the tree more open. It tolerates nearly any kind of soil but requires ample water when young. This is an excellent choice wherever a narrow shady tree is required.
