With cream-colored margins framing its sword-like leaves, Agave angustifolia ‘Marginata’ provides a strong, structural element to gardens. Rosettes of erect, grey-green leaves that terminate to stiff points grow to 3-4’ tall and 4-6’ wide over time. After 10 years, this agave sends out a tall 9-10 foot flower stalk that blooms yellow-green and attracts butterflies and birds. The bloom produces bulbils that drop and form new plants, and the plant suckers, sending out pups around its base. Widely found from Mexico through Central America, the Agave angustifolia ‘Marginata’ are excellent additions to Mediterranean, desert, modern, and water-wise gardens.
