Prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. Very drought-tolerant once established. It does best in gritty or sandy soil, but must be well-draining. Fire-resistant. Deer and rabbit-resistant. Generally, very insect and disease-resistant. Verticillium Wilt-resistant. Cold hardy to 20°F.
