A Bit More

Few things are as sweet looking as an established bed of white Japanese Anemones in the late summer.  The dark green foliage is the perfect backdrop for the brilliant white blossoms, held aloft on their slender and graceful stems. Ideal conditions would be organically rich and slightly moist soil, never fully drying out, but not boggy either. Plant in an area with partial shade, or at least sheltered from the unforgiving midday sun. Anemone can be slow to establish, but in the right circumstances it will spread by rhizomes and naturalize for a wonderful woodland or cottage garden look. Anemone ‘Honorine Jobert’ makes a good cut flower too, if you’d like to bring these cheerful little blossoms indoors.
