A compact version of the species, Anigozanthos ‘Bush Ranger’ (Dwarf Red Kangaroo Paw) is valuable in gardens where space is an issue. Named for its velvety, orange-red flowers that resemble the paws of our favorite marsupial, Anigozanthos originated from Western Australia. These evergreen shrubs form 1-2’ x 1-2’ sized clumps of narrow green leaves from which stalks of brightly-hued flowers appear. Plant Anigozanthos in an area of full sun, with good circulation and drainage. Cold hardy to 25-30° F, Anigozanthos also does well near a south-facing wall or near a high canopy with bright shade.
