A Bit More

Baccharis ‘Centennial’ is an evergreen shrub that is a male selection of the native Coyote Brush. Because the flowers are male, it produces pollen but lacks the messy seed heads found on female plants. Excellent choice as an informal hedge, as a native groundcover, for weed suppression, and erosion control. Low water needs once established. It prefers full sun, but can tolerate light shade. Adaptable to most soils, but is best in sandy, loam, and clay. More resistant to root rot/water mold disease than other Baccharis varieties. Deer-resistant. Fire-resistant. Verticillium wilt-resistant. Cold hardy to 10°F.
