A Bit More

Sometimes good things really do come in small packages. Callistemon viminalis ‘Little John’ has managed to condense all of the charms of a bigger Bottlebrush into a delightful little shrub. Dwarf Bottlebrush has densely packed leaves, mint green when new and maturing to a attractive darker shade, that are the perfect backdrop for the bundles of vivid crimson stamens that make up the flowers. ‘Little John’ blooms year round, but makes an extra effort in late summer and early fall. Callistemon viminalis does need some attention and regular water while getting established, but after the first year is capable of drought tolerance. Plant ‘Little John’ as a fun accent in a garden, or in rows as a surprisingly handsome low hedge.
