A Bit More

Ceanothus ‘Centennial’ is a low-growing, evergreen California native shrub/sub-shrub featuring dense, dark green foliage and deep cobalt-blue flowers. It is best used in coastal sites, on steep slopes, in low-water gardens, as a large-scale lawn alternative. Low water use; drought-tolerant once established. It requires little to no summer irrigation once rooted. Adapts to sand, clay, loam, and lean soils, but strictly requires good drainage. Very shade-tolerant for a Ceanothus; thrives in dry shade under native oak canopies. Tolerant of coastal salt spray and seaside conditions. Resistant to Verticillium wilt. Deer-resistant. Cold hardy to 15°F.
