Cedrus deodara is a large conifer native to the Himalayas featuring graceful, weeping branches and blue-green foliage. Broadly pyramidal with a central leader (excurrent) when young; distinct drooping, weeping branches and rounded top (decurrent) with age. Excellent for casting deep, wide shade. It is used as a specimen tree, windbreak, or privacy screen in large landscapes.  Low to moderate water use; requires deep, regular watering while young, drought tolerant once established. It thrives in deep, rich, slightly acidic, and well-drained soils. Prefers full sun. Not shade tolerant. Highly tolerant of coastal exposure and salty sea spray. Resistant to Verticillium wilt. Deer-resistant. Cold hardy to -5°F.
