A Bit More

Cotoneaster dammeri ‘Lowfast’ is a fast-growing, evergreen ground cover featuring glossy, dark green leaves that develop reddish-bronze or purple tones in fall/winter, small white flowers in spring followed by abundant, glossy red berries in fall. It creates a dense mat of trailing, rooting stems making it excellent for erosion control. Very effective suppressing weeds. Other uses include lawn substitute, edging/borders, rock gardens. It tolerates the heavy exhaust, heat, and poor soil conditions of parking lot islands, highway medians, and commercial storefronts. It tolerates partial shade, though it performs and fruits best in full sun. Low to moderate water use; requires regular watering in the first season, but becomes quite drought-tolerant once mature. It is highly adaptable to most soil types (chalky, rocky, sandy, or loam) but prefers well-drained soil. Tolerates some salt. Resistant to Verticillium wilt. Fire-resistant. Deer resistant. Cold hardy to -10°F.
