Dymondia margaretae is a dense, mat-forming evergreen perennial featuring leaves that are deep gray-green on top with curled, white-felted undersides and small, golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers appearing in summer. Excellent lawn substitute and weed suppressant. Other uses include erosion control, border or edge plant, rock gardens. Excellent in seacoast landscapes. Very low water needs. Prefers sandy, gritty, or rocky soils that offer excellent, rapid drainage. It does poorly in heavy clay that retains too much moisture and suffocates the roots. Best in full sun to achieve the brightest silvery-green leaf color; tolerates light shade, but heavy shade thins the foliage. Deer and rabbit-resistant. Fire-resistant.
