A Bit More

Echinacea ‘Pow Wow Wildberry’ is a compact, herbaceous perennial featuring an upright and mounded growth habit, with tightly-packed rigid basal branching and stiff, upright stems. Flowers are slightly fragrant, deep rose-purple/magenta rays with an orange-brown center cone. Deciduous; new growth will emerge from the roots each spring. Blooms summer through fall. Uses include mass planting, border, mixed bed, container, rock garden. Low to moderate water use; requires regular water when young but becomes drought-tolerant once established. It tolerates loam, sand, rocky grit, and even dry clay soils, but thrives best in poor to average, well-draining soil. Requires full sun to perform its best, extremely low shade tolerance. Partial shade leads to weak, floppy stems, fewer flowers. Fire-resistant. Resistant to Verticillium wilt. Highly deer-resistant and moderately rabbit-resistant. Cold hardy to -30°F.
