A Bit More

Among the most popular native California grasses, Festuca californica or California fescue, forms blue-green to green-gray low growing clumps that relish full sun or part shade.  Its graceful form is well-suited to mass planting and is particularly pretty, and effective erosion control, on slopes.  Evergreen and topping out at 1-3 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide, it will grow quickly in full sun to part shade and thrives in clay or loamy soils.  With flower spikes appearing in late spring to early summer, it can also make a nice specimen plant in a container.  Average to low water will suffice and maintenance could hardly be easier.
