A Bit More

Known for its striking color, Festuca ovina glauca, or Blue Fescue, is a small, cool season clumping grass. Growing 1’ tall by 1’ wide, its fine leaves form compact, silver-blue sprays. In the summer, small yellow-green inflorescences rise up, but are not significant. Native to western North America and ranging from Southern California up to the Pacific Northwest, Blue Fescue is best in full sun with good drainage and tolerates partial shade. Cold hardy to below 0° F. Use Blue Fescue to bring a pop of blue color to borders, or plant in large drifts for a statement.
