The tallest of our blue fescue selections, Festuca ‘Siskiyou Blue’ is a cool season bunchgrass that grows 1-2’ tall and wide. This evergreen forms sweeping tufts of fine, blue-grey blades. Drought and deer tolerant, ‘Siskiyou Blue’ prefers full sun and bright shade near the coast but needs protection from afternoon sun in warmer locations. Cold hardy to below 0° F. Provide good drainage and regular water during establishment. Once thought to be a California native, Festuca ‘Siskiyou Blue’ is suspected to be a natural hybrid of Festuca idahoensis and the Festuca ovina glauca. Use in mixed borders or plant in masses for a sweep of blue color.
