A Bit More

Liriope muscari ‘Silvery Sunproof’ is an evergreen perennial with a dense, clumping, arching habit and featuring variegated ribbon-like leaves that emerge in spring with a lemon-yellow stripe before maturing to a silvery white-cream margin against deep green. Lilac-purple flower spikes that stand up from the foliage emerge in mid-summer to early autumn.. Glossy, metallic black berries are present in fall and winter. The foliage will not go dormant in mild winters, but can have a ‘hard’ look and is best cutback for the new spring growth. Uses include edgings, borders, mass groundcover, weed suppression. Tolerates urban, intermountain, and seacoast conditions. Moderate water use when installed and acclimating; drought-resistant once its root system is established. It is highly adaptable to almost any soil type (including poor or clay soils) but prefers well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. Highly shade tolerant, it can handle full sun in mild climates; it may burn the foliage if planted in hot sun. Deer and rabbit-resistant. Resistant to Verticillium Wilt. Cold hardy to -10°F.
