A recipient of the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, Pennisetum ‘Fairy Tails’ is notable for its upright, tail-like inflorescences. This fountain grass has fine, bright green foliage that grows in 3’ wide tufts.  Spring through fall 1-2” tall spires rise above the foliage, producing pink-white flowers. This selection is another found in the nursery of John Greenlee and has become a favorite among designers. Cold hardy to 25° F, plant in full sun, and expect some die back during the winter months. Coast and drought tolerant. Cut back foliage in late winter in preparation for spring growth. Beautiful in masses or as accents, use Pennisetum ‘Fairy Tails’ in traditional, naturalistic and contemporary gardens.
