A Bit More

A low-growing stonecrop with a striking resemblance to its namesake conifer, Sedum reflexum ‘Blue Spruce’ is a tidy, low-maintenance ground cover. The fleshy foliage of this succulent grows  6” tall to 1 ½’ wide, quickly creating a thick carpet of blue-green. In the summer, flower stems rise up above the mat and produce clusters of cheery yellow flowers. Deer, drought and snow tolerant, ‘Blue Spruce’ is cold hardy to -25° F and can withstand snow. Sedums are called stonecrop because the plants are frequently found growing among rock outcroppings and stones. Plant ‘Blue Spruce’ in full sun with good soil drainage, as this sedum prefers sandy to rocky soils. Use in containers, in mass plantings, or at the edge of mixed borders.
